DJ Aasha Adore

"Girl, turn that music down!" something that was often heard in the household where Baltimore, Maryland native Aasha "Adore" Rawlings spent most of her childhood. At the not so tender age of 2 her mother first discovered her love for music as she watched her daughter wiggle in her car seat every time Snap‘s "I Got the Power", came on the radio. As she got older, most children played outside until the late hours of the night in the Park Heights neighborhood where she grew up in. Not Aasha. Instead she sat on the porch with her portable radio waiting for all her favorite songs so she could quickly press record, until the streetlights came on of course. As years went on, her love for music grew and grew. She found interest in singing and rapping but always felt as if there was something missing.

Listening to primetime radio DJ mixes she began being more critical as to what songs were being played and how they were played. Soon after she mastered the patterns and formulas of mixing, she would soon be able to "feel" when a DJ brought the next song in as opposed to counting how many beats until the next song came in like others. In high school it was always drilled into Aasha’s head to follow the stereotypical "American Dream", graduate from high school, go to college and get a job, thus, her interest in music wasn‘t expressed like she yearned to. After high school at age 17 Aasha began to search for "something" in the parties her mother forbid her to go to, but all her friends talked about. There was when she met club promoter MVP Big D and club DJ, DJ Big Nasty who were running an empire of their own called TruGoodfellas Ent. Working as a promoter Aasha began to develop interest in being an official Disc Jockey. Countless hours of practice with DJ Big Nasty came and went due to her natural ear for music. Shortly after a good amount of practice, Aasha began doing gigs at all the hottest parties in Baltimore and mixing in the ADIDAS store in Georgetown, MD. A couple of mixtapes and hundreds of parties later she successfully landed a spot with Baltimore superstar and M.I.A. protégé Ryeisha "Rye-Rye" Berrain as her tour DJ which was a big stepping stone in her rapidly growing career. They did events from the Perez Hilton Party at South By Southwest 2009 Austin, Texas, to Ultramusic Festival in Miami, Florida and other big events in locations such as Prague, Czech Republic, London, England and Paris, France. A lot to have seen at 20 years young, DJ Aasha Adore is not finished yet being dubbed one of the the rarest forms of female DJ’s (actually being able to mix) she plans to let the world know she is much more than a pretty face.

DJ Mary Mac

DJ Mary Mac was introduced to the art of turntables and mixing by her older brother while he practiced daily in the basement of their family's Queens, NY home. Barely a teen, and yet highly intrigued by the techniques of the many notable DJ's of that era, Mary Mac began working diligently to hone and perfect her skills behind the wheels. With a combination of natural talent and passion, she quickly made a name for herself as a sought-after female DJ. Needless to say, this was quite ground-breaking in the predominately male-driven industry.

With a combination of natural talent and passion, she quickly made a name for herself as a sought-after female DJ. Needless to say, this was quite ground-breaking in the predominately male-driven industry.

During the early 90's, her career was further ignited while attending Mitchell College. As a full-time student, she began spinning for college parties in the area. This earned her the coveted position of Music Director at Eastern Connecticut State University's radio station where she remained for the next two years. Following her reign at the radio station, she began to earn solid credibility. She was soon approached by a Def Jam A&R as she was spinning at a NYC loft party. She was asked to DJ for their newest hip-hop artist [Boss]. This is the position that led to her involvement in the nationwide Phat Jam Tour, which featured Def Jam recording artists Run DMC, Redman and Onyx. DJ Mary Mac and [Boss] opened the show for the span of the entire tour which lasted several months. By the mid 90's, she had managed to establish a "rooted recognition" which then led her to valuable opportunities that were key in her growth as an artist of the turn-tables.

Since then, Mary has been exclusively requested to play at various national events and celebrity parties offering a seemingly endless and impressive list that includes birthday parties for Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Queen Pen as well as promotional release parties for Cassidy, Fatty Koo, Dead Prez, Hush Magazine, Monica and Clips. DJ Mary Mac has spun with the likes of DJ Enuf, Funkmaster Flex, DJ Mr. C, DJ Spindarella, DJ Clue, DJ S&S, DJ Jazzy Joyce, DJ Mad Links and several other recognized DJs in the industry. Wendy also chose Mary Mac to deliver her talent for the benefit of the Aids-A-Thon marathon.

DJ Mary Mac strives to remain on top of her game and continues to secure her position as a "premier DJ" while playing at some of NYC's most popular venues such as Joe's Pub, Club Exit, Lotus, the legendary Club Shelter, Lovergirl, The Puma Store, Fashion 40, Taj, Crobar, PM, Club Show and the list goes on. DJ Pursue

A working mother is walking towards her building in Queens, NY only to hear music blaring from one of the apartment’s above. As she turns the key to her apartment door, she realizes the loud music and female voice that she heard singing from the street, is in fact her daughter Chanel! This is what life was like for Chanel growing up; having to deal with the consequences of her mom yelling at her to turn down the music afraid the speakers would blow out on the stereo system. Chanel has lived, thought about and seen music in a special way from as far back as she can remember; music pumps through her veins. September 14, 1981 marks the day Chanel’s love affair with music began and it has yet to end.

Chanel is an elementary school teacher by day, but at night when the lights are low in the club, she transforms into her alter ego DJ Pursue. Pursue taught herself the art of deejaying by asking questions and getting advice from anyone that would listen and give her feedback. She bought equipment, constantly practiced and studied the best in the field until she found her niche. Pursue started off deejaying for the kids at her elementary school, baby showers, weddings, and worked her way onto the club circuit. New York is where Pursue has grown and is continuing to grow as a deejay playing for many venues, various crowds and local promoters throughout the city.

The “youngest in charge” is her tag line and what it means is; youngest not in terms of age but in terms of tenure in the booth. Pursue has been deejaying for only three years and in that short time has gained the respect of her peers and is a member of 5 Star DJ’s. Pursue is currently the in house DJ for both SofTouch Entertainment and P.A.N.I.C. Productions. Also on Pursue’s resume is her deejaying at Sweetheat Miami, Atlanta Pride as well as a variety of events throughout the North East region.

Pursue continues to hone her skills in NYC to constantly develop, evolve, and learn every facet of her craft. Her driving force is to push to the limit and be the best of the best in this industry. Living up to her name, she continues to pursue other skills that will add to her repertoire and set her apart from others. As she continues to study and develop all areas of this field, Pursue plans to step onto the scene with a new mastering that many of today’s deejays haven’t touched upon. Stay Tuned!

For Pursue, it’s about the love of music and making people feel good, money isn’t the priority. However, her worth is evident and deserves the respect that should come along with it. You will find her in the deejay booth the whole night spinning music, enjoying the atmosphere, and feeling the crowd out to ensure that everyone is bopping their head to the beat. Humble, sincere, genuine, and thoughtful is synonymous with who Pursue is as both a person and a DJ. The alias “Pursue” derives from her desire to continually strive to reach and take her skills to higher heights. When Pursue is in the booth she is in a zone where she wants to ensure that the crowd is having a great time and feeling the music. In the mindset of Pursue “there is no reason that the same song should play more than once in a club.”
